Born in 1908 in Bressuire, Max Ingrand graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1927. He began his career under the guidance of his master, Jean Gruben. In addition to creating numerous stained-glass windows in France and abroad, Max Ingrand also designed and crafted furniture, lighting fixtures, mirrors and objects.
When Saint-Gobain acquired Fontana Arte, the renowned glass artist was appointed as the artistic director of the factory in Milan in 1954.
He passed away prematurely in 1969.
He remains one of the major figures in post-war design in both France and Italy.
