Artist born in Venice in 1882, the son of a blacksmith, Umberto Bellotto began training as a goldsmith. A native of the Serenissima, very close to the master glassmakers of Murano, he designed wrought iron and blown glass works for Barovier or Fratelli Toso from 1910 to 1928. After that date, he went to Rome to decorate state buildings.
He passed away in 1940 in his hometown.
